BRICS member countries called for "maximum restraint" from both Iran and the United States, expressing concern over the escalation of tensions in the Middle East. This appeal comes at a time of heightened instability in the region, leading the emerging economic blocs to attempt to play a mediating role.
The Iranian President was present at the BRICS summit held in New Delhi, the capital of India. During the event, he held a bilateral meeting with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, representing the United Arab Emirates.
This meeting was interpreted as an attempt to defuse the tensions that have been intensifying in the Middle East. Iran and the United Arab Emirates share the Persian Gulf region, making this interaction particularly relevant for the stability of the area.
