A 26-year-old man was arrested by the PSP in Lisbon after trying to run over an officer during a fleeing from a traffic checkpoint. The suspect did not obey the stop order and tried to escape, putting the officer's safety at risk.
The man was driving without a driver's license, which was one of the violations detected during the operation. In addition to this violation, the alcohol test revealed a rate of 1.54 grams per liter of blood, a value well above the legal limit allowed.
The attempt to run over the officer occurred when the suspect tried to flee from the checkpoint. The act endangered the physical integrity of the police officer who was at the location conducting the operation.
The authorities proceeded with the arrest of the individual, who was subject to legal procedures for the violations committed, including driving without a license and while intoxicated, as well as for the attempt to run over the officer.
