A 13-year-old girl was stalked by a man on a street in Braga, near the Municipal Cemetery, in the parish of São Victor, in a situation that led to the intervention of the Municipal Police on Tuesday. The agents noticed that the young girl was running down the street while being followed by the individual, who attempted to grab her while making comments to her. During the pursuit, the man told the girl she was "very pretty" and threw rocks at her, allegedly to make her stop.
Faced with the scenario, the Municipal Police agents decided to intervene immediately. Part of the operatives stayed with the minor to calm her down and ensure her safety, while other agents followed in pursuit of the suspect, who had moved away from the location.
The individual was eventually located shortly after on Timor Street, still in the city of Braga, when he was found hiding. The operatives proceeded with his identification and kept him at the location until the intervention of the competent authorities. The suspect, of Portuguese nationality and resident in Braga, was subsequently handed over to the PSP.
Given the nature of the facts and the age of the girl, the case was transferred to a specialized brigade of the Judicial Police in Braga. It will now fall to the authorities to investigate all the circumstances of the pursuit and determine any criminal responsibilities.
