Ricardo Araújo Pereira reacted to the controversy involving Jerry Seinfeld and stated that he would not cancel his participation in the Commedia a La Carte Fest. The Portuguese humorist considered that Seinfeld's position in favor of Israel does not constitute sufficient reason to drop out of the event.
The festival organizer, Moshe Yedid, had previously explained that he invited Jerry Seinfeld to the event because of his work in comedy and not for political reasons. This statement came in response to the criticism that arose online.
Ricardo Araújo Pereira defended that participating in the same event as other people does not mean subscribing to the political opinions or positions of those participants. The Portuguese humorist took this position after several artists had cancelled their participation in the festival due to Seinfeld's support for Israel.
