Portuguese pensionists who reside abroad have until September 15, 2026 to complete the Life Proof with Social Security. This obligation applies only to beneficiaries residing in Belgium, Canada, Cape Verde, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. The Life Proof serves to prove that the pensioner is still alive and maintains the necessary conditions to receive the pension.
Those who do not comply with the deadline within the established period risk seeing their pension payment suspended from November. However, the suspension does not mean the definitive loss of the right to the amounts. After completing and validating the Life Proof, payment can be resumed and the amounts corresponding to the suspension period are subsequently regularized.
Social Security warns that this obligation does not apply generally to all Portuguese pensionists. Those living in Portugal are not covered by this specific deadline. The covered beneficiaries who have not yet completed the procedure should verify their situation urgently to avoid interruption of their monthly income.
