Chinese scientists developed an innovative mixture for 3D printing structures on Mars. The material is composed of sand, gelatin and a yeast coated with adhesive proteins.
The researchers managed to create a construction material using resources available on the red planet. The combination of the three components allows creating solid structures through 3D printing.
This solution can be fundamental for future Mars colonization missions, where it will be possible to build habitats using materials found on the planet itself, eliminating the need to transport construction materials from Earth.
