The Constitutional Court rejected the appeal presented by PAN against the decision that had declared the nullity of the election of the party's national bodies. The court's plenary session thus confirmed the invalidation of the internal electoral process.
The decision covers the election of all PAN's national bodies, including the leadership of spokesperson Inês Sousa Real, whose election was also declared null.
The judges of the Constitutional Court considered that the electoral process was conducted by an incompetent structure, which vitiates and taints the validity of all elected leadership.
With this decision, the results of the congress that elected the party's leadership are voided, and the current PAN leadership loses the legitimacy derived from that election.
