The Minister of Internal Administration, Luís Neves, has convened the PSP unions and the GNR associations for new negotiating meetings on September 17 and 29. The ministry clarified that scheduling the meetings was not a reaction to the protests, but rather the fulfillment of the calendar that was always planned, emphasizing that Luís Neves always said negotiations would resume in September, including during this week's parliamentary hearing.
The September 17 meeting aims to conclude the negotiation of the special allowance for airport border control, while the September 29 meeting will be dedicated to the restructuring of careers and the organization of working time.
This week, the Police Professionals Trade Union Association (ASPP) and the Guard Professionals Association (APG/GNR) announced a joint protest cycle, considering that promises of salary and career reviews have not been fulfilled. The issue is the non-compliance with the 2024 agreement, which increased the risk allowance by 300 euros but has not yet implemented the salary, career, and evaluation system reviews.
ASPP presented a protest calendar between September 22 and October 30, with protests already scheduled in Porto (September 24), Leiria (October 1), Faro (October 14), and Lisbon (October 8), potentially spreading to other cities such as Coimbra and Guimarães, as well as the autonomous regions. ASPP's president, Paulo Santos, stated that there is a "complete emptying of the PSP in the operational field" and that they understand that, even with new meetings scheduled, protest must be a reality.
