PSP OF VILA REAL PROMOTES SAFETY ACTIONS FOR CHILDREN DURING THE HOLIDAYS

Canal N – Notícias – Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro12 September 2026 at 10:30

The PSP of Vila Real is promoting awareness actions aimed at children within the scope of the "Police Always Present – Safe Summer" operation, through the initiative "With Falco, Safer Holidays". The activities are carried out by the Safe School Program team and combine learning and fun moments, using pedagogical materials and the stories from the "I Do As Falco Says" project.

At the Professora Joca Study Center in Vila Real, children were made aware of the behaviors to adopt if they get lost or are approached by strangers, and also received information about the "I'm Here Children" program. With these actions, the PSP aims to reinforce prevention and community policing, promoting safe behaviors and a relationship of trust between the youngest and the security forces from childhood.

Why this matters

Families in Vila Real with school-age children directly benefit from these awareness actions, which take place during the summer holiday period, when risks for the youngest can increase. The initiative allows parents to learn about programs such as "I'm Here Children" and encourages children to establish a positive relationship with the police from childhood. This action is part of the PSP's broader strategy to reinforce community policing during the "Safe Summer" operation.
