Maricá's Zero Fare system completed 12 years of operation. What started with just 13 buses today brings together a complete free transportation network with 157 buses, 59 vans, and 680 shared bicycles. The expansion transformed the system into an essential part of the daily routine of city residents.
The system's buses operate on 49 routes and registered approximately 39 million trips last year. Between January and August 2026, the free buses transported approximately 26.8 million passengers, maintaining strong activity.
The vans were integrated into the system in January and operate on 26 complementary routes. From January to May, the vans had already registered more than one million passengers transported.
The shared bicycle network also grew significantly. The system has 680 bicycles available and reached 68 stations in September, with 58 for adults and ten for children. The network expansion was nearly 80% in the last two years.
