The Portuguese Government announced a 12 million euro support for the Douro region, aimed at wine growers in the demarcated zone. This measure comes as a response to the challenges faced by the wine sector in the region.
The support value will be calculated based on the quantity of grapes harvested by each wine grower. The payment will not be a fixed amount, but rather proportional to each farmer's production.
The amount assigned to each producer will be determined through a comparison between the production declared in 2026 and the average production of each wine grower over the five previous campaigns. This method aims to especially protect small producers who have shown more consistent productivity over time.
