BLITZ interviewed Rachel Goswell, co-vocalist, keyboardist and guitarist of Slowdive, during the Primavera Sound festival in June. The artist proved to be a woman with a hearty laugh who doesn't hide her happiness at still being able to travel the world with her band, something that didn't seem possible during the 90s, when the group was subjected to strong criticism.
Slowdive, a British shoegaze band, faced a negative reception in the distant 90s, a period when they were heavily criticized by both audiences and the specialized press. Despite this, the band managed to survive and remain active throughout the decades.
Currently, Rachel Goswell observes that the concert audience has changed significantly, noting that there are many young people in the audience and that there's always someone crying in the front row, which demonstrates the strong emotional connection that the band's music still provokes in fans.
Beyond her music career, Goswell has dedicated herself to something she considers more important: helping deaf people. This cause is particularly significant to her, as her own son is deaf.
