The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has extended yellow warnings in nine districts in the centre and south of mainland Portugal. The warnings due to heat will remain in effect until Monday.
The districts covered are those in the centre and south of the country. The yellow warning is the lowest level of meteorological alert.
IPMA is the national authority responsible for meteorology and the atmosphere in Portugal. This entity monitors climate conditions and issues the corresponding warnings to protect the population.
The intense heat has affected these regions in recent days, leading to the extension of the meteorological warnings to ensure that the population is informed about the adverse atmospheric conditions.
