Cuba accuses the USA of "terrorism" for actions aimed at its "surrender through hunger"

dnoticias.pt12 September 2026 at 05:07

The Cuban government classified on Friday as "terrorism" the actions of Donald Trump's government aimed at bringing the country to "surrender through hunger". The accusation was made against the American administration in the context of the economic measures imposed on Cuba.

Cuba recalled the thousands of Cubans killed and injured in terrorist acts over the decades. The Cuban president, Miguel Díaz-Canel, used social media to make this comparison, also referring to the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York.

According to Díaz-Canel, Cuba has suffered for more than 60 years from terrorist attacks of various types, with a toll of more than 3,400 dead and 2,099 injured. The Cuban leader considered that the island is currently facing a blockade that he qualifies as a form of economic terrorism.
