South and Southeast regions suffer effects of cyclone, with landslides, hail, floods and tornado

The heavy rains that hit the South Region and parts of the Southeast in recent days caused several problems, including flooding, landslides, fallen trees, hail, suspension of classes and damage to properties, roads and public structures. The passage of an extratropical cyclone through the South reinforced atmospheric instability and raised the risk of severe storms in the region.

In Paraná, the System of Technology and Environmental Monitoring of Paraná (Simepar) confirmed this Friday the formation of a tornado in Goioerê, in the northwest of the state. The phenomenon was the 13th recorded in Paraná since the beginning of the year, formed from a supercell storm during the passage of a cold front through the state.

According to Simepar, there were no reports of injuries after the passage of the tornado. The City Hall of Goioerê reported that the initial suspicion is that the phenomenon caused damage in the region.

For this Saturday, the weather forecast indicates that the instability should continue affecting part of the South and areas of the Southeast, with possibility of heavy rain and intense winds in the regions under the influence of the system.
