Brazil faces new international pressure due to the possible non-compliance with protection measures for the Munduruku indigenous people in Pará. The Inter-American Court of Human Rights is preparing a new resolution on the situation of these peoples.
The Court carried out a visit to the Munduruku territory between September 1st and 3rd, with the objective of verifying in the field whether Brazil is complying with the protection measures determined by the tribunal since 2022.
The international tribunal's mission sought to directly assess the conditions of the indigenous people and the fulfillment of Brazilian obligations before the court. Brazil faces criticism for possibly not respecting the previous judicial determinations.
