The Colombian government removed from social media videos of President Abelardo de la Espriella walking among corpses of alleged criminals killed by security forces. The images showed bodies inside white bags and had been published on September 2 and 4 by the Colombian Presidency's account on Meta group platforms.
On Tuesday, Colombian Justice ordered the temporary removal of the videos. The decision was made after legislator Santiago Osorio, from the center-left Green Party, went to court to request the removal of the recordings.
The measure will remain in effect until the judge decides whether the content is violent and should be permanently removed.
In just over a month in office, the right-wing Espriella has been leading an offensive against organized crime in the country.
