Number two at the PGR begins acting at the STF in Master case proceedings, and Gonet is expected to participate in ruling on Moraes

The Vice Attorney General of Brazil, Hindemburgo Chateaubriand Filho, has begun presenting requests to the Supreme Federal Court in investigations into the billion-dollar frauds attributed to banker Daniel Vorcaro in the Master case. The decision was made by the leadership of the Attorney General's Office and was formalized through a request to the president of the STF, Edson Fachin, for the lifting of all secrecy surrounding the case.

The Attorney General of Brazil, Paulo Gonet, will not be responsible for these specific requests but is expected to participate in next Tuesday's ruling that will deliberate on the report that identified Minister Alexandre de Moraes. Gonet will be the one present at this court session.

The choice of Hindemburgo to present requests to the Supreme is related to a procedure opened by the Superior Council of the Federal Public Ministry to analyze messages extracted from Vorcaro's phone. The dialogues are part of a report that will be analyzed by the full court next week.

Interlocutors highlight that there is no formal impediment for the vice attorney general to act on these matters before the STF, as it is an internal decision of the PGR regarding the division of responsibilities among the institution's members.

Rui Rocha: "MPs make many flourishes; they're used to TikTok"

In an interview with Jornal Económico, Rui Rocha, former leader of Iniciativa Liberal, explained the methodology behind his standout performance at the parliamentary hearing of Minister Luís Neves, where he asked concrete and focused questions that exposed the minister's inability to respond to important matters. Rocha criticized the remaining MPs for using open and too "flowery" questions, a habit he attributes to their familiarity with social media like TikTok. He defended that a good parliamentary question should be concise, closed, and preceded by a clear position from the questioner, in order to force the interlocutor to rebut or, through silence, validate his thesis. He revealed he started preparation in August, with a small team, and regretted not having had time to ask the minister what he would do if he were made a defendant.
