Meta launched a new digital assistant with artificial intelligence called Muse. This assistant was integrated into the company's social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram and X.
The company changed the handles of the official pages of the British band Muse, which is known for songs like "Supermassive Black Hole". The original name that identified the band on social media was reserved for Meta's new AI assistant.
The band Muse did not lose the followers it had accumulated on social media. However, the band's profiles now use different handles from the original ones.
The situation generated controversy, as Meta used the band's name for its own digital product, without there apparently being any agreement or prior consultation with the musicians.
