Former STF president and presidential candidate for the Novo party, Romeu Zema, criticized the existence of an alleged "gang" of Supreme Federal Court justices, but praised Fachin's decision to lift the secrecy on the so-called Master case on Friday. Zema stated that people who have proximity to Daniel Vorcaro, pointed out as responsible for a financial fraud scheme at the bank under his ownership, cannot be considered correct.
The candidate from the Missão party, Renan Santos, went further and declared that, if elected, he will not comply with decisions by Justices Alexandre de Moraes and Dias Toffoli, both cited in the investigations probing the fraudulent scheme involving Banco Master and Daniel Vorcaro.
The Master case refers to an investigation into a financial fraud scheme associated with the bank controlled by Vorcaro, whose investigations mention transactions and relations with Supreme Court justices, including suspicious contracts, such as one of R$129 million with the wife of one of those involved, in addition to stock transactions and sponsored events.
Justice Edson Fachin, of the STF, granted 24 hours for lawyer Cristiano Zanin, appointed by Lula to the Court, to submit pending procedures related to the Master case, and ordered the lifting of secrecy on the investigations, expanding public access to the details of the inquiries.
