The National Traffic Council (Contran) extended the validity of CNHs covered by the new automatic renewal rules with expiration between June 5 and December 8, 2026. Affected drivers may continue driving with the old document until December 9, according to the resolution published last Wednesday (9) in the Official Gazette of the Union.
The measure waives any specific procedure to register the extension of the expiration, with no need to issue a new document. After the end of the new deadline, drivers will have an additional period of thirty days to complete the renewal of their CNH.
The extension also applies to the Authorization to Drive Mopeds (ACC) that has expired within the same period covered by the resolution.
Detran RJ clarifies, however, that under no circumstances does the extension eliminate the need to complete the mandatory renewal procedures within the established deadline.
