The director-general of the Federal Police, Andrei Rodrigues, commented on Friday on the controversy surrounding his removal from the position. He stated that the intelligence reports used by Minister Alexandre de Moraes are "lawful," meaning they are within the law.
Rodrigues also stated that there was no monitoring of Supreme Federal Court ministers by the Federal Police, refuting the accusations that led to the initial decision to remove him.
The decision that removed the PF director from his position was made by Minister André Mendonça, who granted a request from the defense of former President Jair Bolsonaro within the fake news inquiry.
However, the removal order was later revoked by STF President Edson Fachin, restoring Andrei Rodrigues to the position of director-general of the Federal Police.
