The party Together for the People (JPP) proposed the creation of a Parliamentary Inquiry Committee in the Assembly of the Republic. Deputy Filipe Sousa was responsible for presenting this resolution proposal.
The Inquiry Committee aims to scrutinize the administrative procedures of the Judicial Police, as well as the existing internal control mechanisms in the institution. It also aims to analyze the exercise of governmental powers of monitoring and oversight over the PJ.
The period that will be subject to scrutiny is that during which Luís Neves served as National Director of the Judicial Police. The proposal aims to assess whether there were failures in the action or control of this police force during Luís Neves's term.
