Defense says that, after all, military mega-loan does not need to be voted on in Parliament

The Ministry of Defense has clarified that the SAFE Loan Agreement does not need to be discussed and voted on by the Assembly of the Republic, contradicting the information previously sent to Expresso. The loan will be sent to Parliament, but only for information, with no need for deliberation.

The defense minister's advisor acknowledged that he was wrong in sending the initial information to the newspaper, recognizing that the previous communication was incorrect. New corrected responses were sent to rectify the situation.

Expresso had published in its weekly edition the information that the military mega-loan would have to be discussed and voted on in Parliament, based on the official responses from the Ministry of Defense. This subsequent clarification corrects that version of the facts.
