The National Republican Guard has launched the new school year with the "Escola Segura" campaign, which covers more than 4,400 educational establishments and approximately 670,000 students across the country. The initiative aims for a closer presence of military personnel among students, teachers and parents, focusing on the prevention of risky behaviors and the promotion of a culture of citizenship and respect.
In the last school year, the Safe School Program recorded more than 790,000 users covered, 17,000 awareness actions and 2,631 crimes in the school environment. The most frequent crimes included physical assault, threats, theft and cases of defamation, but more serious incidents were also identified, such as sexual crimes, abuse, drug trafficking and possession of prohibited weapons.
The Criminal Prevention and Community Policing Sections, which include more than 400 military personnel, are now intensifying awareness actions and monitoring young people in vulnerable situations. The campaign also includes advice directed at students, families and educators, focusing on the prevention of bullying, cyberbullying, dating violence and risks associated with internet use.
