Germany's far-right party, Alternative for Germany (AfD), achieved 43.8% of the votes in the Saxony-Anhalt regional elections, electing 39 lawmakers to the regional parliament. This result represents a significant victory for the party and a strong presence of the radical right in the state.

Some of the AfD-elected lawmakers have backgrounds or connections that have generated strong public controversy. Among the controversies are references to former members of the Stasi, the secret police of East Germany, as well as connections to pornography content and neo-Nazi movements.

The party now faces public scrutiny over the composition of its parliamentary group, with critics pointing to the presence of elements with controversial personal and political histories. The situation raises questions about the limits of admissibility of certain political profiles in the regional parliament.
