Candidate Eduardo Paes (PSD) participated in a forum organized by O GLOBO, EXTRA, Valor and CBN, where he presented his main proposals if elected governor of the state of Rio de Janeiro. During the event, he promised to end the RioCard system and hold a bid for electronic ticketing, following the same model he implemented in the city during his term as mayor.
Paes also committed to reducing intercity bus fares, in addition to ending state funding for Rio de Janeiro's carnival. According to him, financing carnival is not a state executive function. The former mayor demonstrated firmness in his proposals, stating that he would fire anyone who did not have the competence or capacity to meet the established goals.
Another point highlighted in the forum was the price of Rio de Janeiro's Metro fare, which is among the highest in the country. Paes took the opportunity to reinforce his proposal to build Metro Line 3, which would connect the city of Rio to other municipalities in the region. He also mentioned plans to intervene in Supervia, following the same approach adopted in his previous administration with the BRT system.
