André Ventura challenges Carneiro to approve reduction of VAT on fuels to 13%

André Ventura, leader of the Chega party, publicly challenged Prime Minister Montenegro (referred to as "Carneiro" in the title, although technically Montenegro is the prime minister) to approve the reduction of VAT on fuels to 13%. The challenge comes in the context of a proposal presented by Chega.

Chega presented on Friday a bill that contemplates this reduction of VAT on fuels. The proposal will be debated in the Assembly of the Republic on September 24.

In addition to the reduction of VAT on fuels, the Chega bill also includes a proposal for zero VAT on essential food goods, thus covering two measures to support the cost of living.
