A short circuit in the electrical installation caused a fire in the roof of a dwelling, on Friday afternoon, September 11, in the Barreira Branca area, in Almeirim. The fire originated in the living room of a dwelling that was undergoing renovation works, when the electrical installation located in the upper part of a plasterboard ceiling short-circuited.
The rescue resources arrived quickly at the scene and the fire was fought swiftly. However, it was necessary to remove several plasterboard plates to allow the cooling of the affected area and confirm the total extinction of the fire source. The alert was given at 3:48 PM.
The incident resulted only in material damage to the ceiling of the dwelling, with no injuries to report. Six operatives from the Volunteer Firefighters of Almeirim were involved in the rescue operations, supported by two vehicles. The GNR of Almeirim took charge of the occurrence.
