Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim delivered this Friday an Automatic External Defibrillator to CD Póvoa, strengthening the partnership between the two institutions and increasing the safety conditions for athletes, coaches, staff, and public who use the club's pavilion.
Sérgio Viana, administrator of the hospital, stated that this donation is part of the policy of proximity to the community and promotion of health prevention, revealing that this is the fifth defibrillator offered by Hospital da Luz in Póvoa de Varzim, after equipment already installed in two colleges and two schools in the municipality.
João Dias, representative of Fmedica and trainer in the use of the equipment, highlighted that the defibrillator saves lives and that the difference between life and death is often in early defibrillation, congratulating initiatives that contribute to the creation of cardiosafe spaces.
The president of CD Póvoa, Sérgio Duarte, thanked the support of Hospital da Luz over the years, highlighting that the institution has approximately 900 athletes and 52 teams, plays over a thousand games per year in the pavilion, and moves thousands of people every weekend, making it essential to invest in protection and prevention mechanisms.
