The Socialist Party of Madeira accused the Government of refusing to cut taxes in the face of the planned fuel price rise on Monday. The position was expressed by Célia Pessegueiro, who harshly criticized the executive's decision.
Célia Pessegueiro defended that the Government should reduce the Excise Duty on Petroleum Products (ISP) and VAT to ease the burden on both families and businesses in light of the planned fuel price increase.
The PS-Madeira leader considered that maintaining taxes without reductions aggravates the financial pressure on Madeiran citizens, at a time when fuel prices are set to rise.
The party thus renewed its pressure on the Executive to adopt fiscal measures that mitigate the impact of the fuel price rise on consumers' wallets and the region's economic activity.
