Paes promises to occupy Salgueiro, in São Gonçalo, if he wins the election

Candidate for governor of the state of Rio de Janeiro Eduardo Paes (PSD) promised, in a video posted on his social media, that the first community to be occupied by his administration will be the Salgueiro Complex, in São Gonçalo, if he is elected. In the recording, Paes states that the territory is dominated by drug trafficker Rabicó, whom he attributes influence over 100% of the neighborhoods in the municipality.

Paes described Salgueiro as an area of difficult access, with part of it being mangrove, which functions as a fortress of crime where bosses hide. According to him, the complex is also one of the main logistical bases of the Red Command, located between Guanabara Bay and BR-101, which facilitates maritime and land routes for trafficking weapons and drugs in the region.

The city of São Gonçalo currently has Mayor Capitão Nelson, father of Douglas Ruas, who is Paes's main adversary in the race for state government. The posting of the video occurs in the context of the electoral campaign, with Paes seeking to highlight his public security proposals for the region.
