The District Command of Fire and Rescue Operations of Porto issued a First Alert Dispatch for a rural fire in the district of Porto. The fire occurred in the area of the municipality of Santo Tirso, specifically in the parishes of Couto, which includes Santa Cristina and São Miguel, and Burgães.

The fire originated in scrubland, being a vegetation fire. The authorities triggered a first alert response to the occurrence.

To combat the fire, four operatives and one ground unit were mobilized. No aerial means were requested for this occurrence.

Three people rescued in Viana after vessel drifts at sea

Three people, two of Spanish nationality and one Swedish, aged between 25 and 40, were rescued on Thursday night after the high-speed vessel they were on drifted about 60 nautical miles west of Viana do Castelo. The occupants were initially picked up by a merchant ship that also towed the vessel, and were then transferred to maritime authorities two nautical miles from the outer breakwater of Viana do Castelo. The forces mobilized included the Lifeboat Station, Maritime Police, Port Captaincy, Judicial Police and GNR. The three citizens "were physically well" and were identified, while the Spanish-flagged vessel was seized as a precautionary measure.
