A former researcher from Anthropic and OpenAI left his position leaving an extremist warning about the risks of artificial intelligence. According to the specialist, AI models currently in development represent an existential threat that could result in the death of all humanity by the end of the decade.
The warning caused a wave of significant concern in Silicon Valley, the epicenter of the global technology industry. The community of researchers and investors in the region was alarmed by the catastrophic predictions left by the former employee of the two leading companies in language model and artificial intelligence development.
In contrast with the panic felt in the American technology industry, Brussels responded quite differently to the same threat. Several European officials stated that the European Union had already anticipated this dangerous scenario through its legislation, suggesting that the regulatory measures implemented are sufficient to address the identified risks.
