The Republican National Guard seized more than 7,000 liters of gasoline and a speedboat in the vicinity of Algarve beaches. The operation was carried out as part of an investigation that suspects a link to drug trafficking.
The authorities believe that the seized materials could be used to facilitate the transport of illicit substances, possibly to refuel vessels involved in trafficking operations along the Algarve coast.
The GNR did not disclose additional details about the operation, including the exact location of the seizures or whether there were any arrests related to the case. The investigation remains under the responsibility of the military authorities.
The Algarve has been the target of frequent operations by Portuguese authorities in the fight against drug trafficking, a region frequently used as a transit point for criminal organizations operating in the Atlantic.
