The State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) participated as a founder of the China-ASEAN Investment Council, becoming the only institution from outside East and Southeast Asia to join the project.
This investment council was created within the framework of relations between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which includes countries such as Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam.
SOFAZ's participation in the council reflects Azerbaijan's strategic position as a trade corridor between Asia and Europe, serving as a bridge between Asian and European markets.
The Azerbaijani oil fund's contribution to this multilateral council demonstrates the country's interest in expanding its influence beyond traditional trade routes and in strengthening economic cooperation with growing Asian economies.
