The Local Health Unit (ULS) Dão Lafões has strengthened community mental health care through the creation of two specialized community teams. This initiative aims to bring mental health services directly to communities, facilitating citizens' access to these essential care services.
The teams created are the Dão Lafões Community Mental Health Team and the Childhood and Adolescence Community Mental Health Team. Both were established within the scope of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), which funds projects to strengthen mental health services in Portugal.
This community-based approach represents a significant shift in how mental health care is delivered, moving from a hospital-centered model to a community model that supports users in their own territory.
