Chega submitted to the Legislative Assembly of Madeira a resolution project that aims to create incentives to retain specialized professionals in supporting people with Autism Spectrum Disorders. The proposal also includes increased financial and psychological support for the families of these individuals.

Among the measures presented, the creation of a Regional Technical Retention Supplement stands out, aimed at non-profit social institutions working in the area of neurodevelopment. The goal is to attract and retain these professionals in the region.

The initiative comes in the context of the need to strengthen support services for people with Autism Spectrum Disorders in Madeira, where the shortage of specialized technicians has been a constant concern.

Government advances with merger of 1st and 2nd cycles of Basic Education starting in 2027/2028

The Portuguese Government, led by Luís Montenegro, will proceed with the merger of the 1st and 2nd cycles of basic education into a single cycle covering from 1st to 6th grade, eliminating the abrupt transition between 4th and 5th grade. The reform will start as a pilot project in 2027/2028 and will include reducing the teaching load of 1st cycle teachers from 25 to 22 hours per week. Minister Fernando Alexandre argued that the current division lacks pedagogical justification and is an administrative inheritance, classifying the measure as an unprecedented structural change in Europe. The educational community reacted with pedagogical openness but operational caution, with unions and school directors demanding more details on implementation and prior negotiation.
