German far-right will sue chancellor for calling "ethnic cleansing" to "remigration"

The Alternative for Germany party (AfD) announced it will proceed with a defamation lawsuit against the German chancellor, Friedrich Merz. The legal action comes after Merz described the far-right concept of "remigration" as "ethnic cleansing". The AfD parliamentary group member, Stephan Brandner, announced the lawsuit through a video posted on social media. Brandner considered the chancellor's statements "criminally reprehensible" and "totally unacceptable", classifying them as "defamatory insult".
