The public meetings of the Sintra Municipal Council executive will now be held, starting next year, in all parishes of the municipality. The measure aims to strengthen the local government's proximity to citizens and promote greater participation of the population in the executive's work.
Throughout the year, the meetings will be decentralized across the different parishes, allowing more citizens to follow the deliberations and participate directly during the public participation period.
According to Marco Almeida, president of the Sintra Municipal Council, the decision allows better planning of the municipal services' activity and contributes to a more open, accessible, and territorially comprehensive governance model.
With this initiative, the local government aims to reinforce a closer and more participatory municipal management, bringing the executive to the different territories of the municipality.
