The world of puppets returns to Sintra between September 11 and 27, with the 5th International Puppet, Mask and Object Show of Sintra (MIMMOS). Agualva, Cacém and Rio de Mouro host theater performances, puppet shows, animated cinema, workshops and other activities.
The show is organized by Valdevinos Teatro de Marionetas, a company based in Sintra, created in 1997, which has developed work in puppet theater creation and dissemination, adapting works by authors such as Charles Perrault, the Brothers Grimm, António Torrado, Alice Vieira and Luís Vaz de Camões. The company presents performances and workshops in theaters, schools, libraries, fairs and other spaces, adapting its proposals to different audiences and contexts.
In Agualva, Valdevinos also runs the Casa da Marioneta, located in Jardim da Anta. The space maintains regular programming, mostly free of charge, dedicated to puppet theater and community involvement. MIMMOS brings together national and international companies, providing the public with different experiences related to puppets, masks and stage objects.
The company also organizes É Só Palheta – Traditional Theater Meeting, Dom Roberto, dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of traditional Portuguese Dom Roberto theater.
