The company published an AI-generated solution and a formal demonstration for the Navier-Stokes problem, stating that 88 hours and millions of dollars in computational power were required to achieve the feat.

A mathematician came forward claiming that he was trying to solve a similar question using an OpenAI tool, raising the hypothesis that his interactions may have been used to train the new model. This revelation sparked ethical questions about the use of academic research in the development of AI systems.

The Navier-Stokes problem is one of the seven Millennium Problems, a set of some of the most difficult open questions in mathematics, developed by the Clay Mathematics Institute. The resolution of one of these problems represents an achievement of great relevance for the international scientific community.

What appeared to be a historic milestone for artificial intelligence turned into a controversy over a possible "theft" of academic work, with experts questioning OpenAI's model training practices and the impact on researchers whose work may have been utilized without proper attribution or compensation.
