Marisa Lourenço, alumna of the University of Porto, won the "My 3-Minute Horticultural Thesis" award in Japan. The competition was part of the 32nd International Horticulture Congress, held in Kyoto.
The distinguished work focused on the study of Catharanthus roseus, a plant known for its anticancer properties. The research was developed as part of her academic training.
Marisa Lourenço was supervised by Susana Carvalho and by Ep Heuvelink, the latter from Wageningen University in the Netherlands. The collaboration between these institutions enabled the study to be carried out.
The award recognizes the ability to communicate scientific knowledge in just three minutes, valuing the capacity to present complex research in an accessible and concise manner.
