The world of marionettes returns to Sintra between September 11 and 27, with the 5th Sintra International Marionette, Mask and Object Show (MIMMOS). Agualva, Cacém and Rio de Mouro host theater performances, marionettes, animated cinema, workshops and other activities. The show is organized by Valdevinos Puppet Theater, a company based in Sintra, and aims to bring this form of artistic expression closer to the community and present different languages and techniques of puppet theater.
Valdevinos was created in 1997 and has developed work in the creation and promotion of puppet theater, adapting works by authors such as Charles Perrault, the Brothers Grimm, António Torrado, Alice Vieira and Luís Vaz de Camões. The company presents performances and workshops in theaters, schools, libraries, fairs and other spaces, adapting its proposals to different audiences and contexts.
In Agualva, Valdevinos also runs the Casa da Marioneta, located in the Jardim da Anta. The space maintains a regular program, mostly free of charge, dedicated to puppet theater and community involvement.
MIMMOS is part of Valdevinos' programming and brings together national and international companies, providing the public with different experiences related to marionettes, masks and stage objects. The company also organizes É Só Palheta – Dom Roberto Traditional Theater Meeting, dedicated to the preservation and promotion of traditional Portuguese Dom Roberto theater.
