Following the announcement in April that Princess Leonor would study Political Science at Carlos III University, the academic center began analyzing how to reconcile her academic life with an institutional agenda that would inevitably cause some absences. The Spanish Royal Household (Zarzuela) had to deal with this issue from the beginning.
Among the formulas considered, a particularly unique proposal emerged: apply to the heir to the throne the support program reserved for high-level and high-performance athletes (DAN/DAR). This idea was presented during a faculty meeting, in one of the internal meetings held before the start of the course.
The proposal, according to sources cited by EL PERIÓDICO, did not come to fruition. Zarzuela rejected the special program proposed for Princess Leonor, opting not to accept any differentiated treatment for her integration into university life.
In this way, Leonor will attend the same courses and follow the same academic rules as any other student at Carlos III, without special benefits related to the support program for high-performance athletes.
