Black card: the refereeing novelty emerging in Romania

Maisfutebol11 September 2026 at 10:52

The Romanian Football Federation (FRF) has approved the introduction of the "black card" as a new sanction in football. This measure will be applied in youth games, meaning matches involving young and grassroots teams.

The black card will be specifically aimed at parents and fans who are in the stands during youth games. The objective is to combat the inappropriate behavior and violence that frequently occurs in the stands during these matches.

The decision was made by the FRF leadership, which decided to implement this new rule as a way to protect young players and ensure a safer and healthier environment in grassroots games.

This novelty comes in a context where Romanian football has been facing recurring problems related to incidents in the stands, especially during youth games, where parents and family members sometimes become involved in situations of tension or aggressiveness.
