Taxis at Lisbon airport will now cost at least 16 euros

Expresso11 September 2026 at 08:19

Taxis operating at Lisbon airport will now have a minimum cost of 16 euros. This new rule was implemented as part of a set of measures to regularize the sector after an inspection operation that revealed significant problems.

The inspection operation took place in August and inspected a total of 100 taxis at the airport. The results were concerning, as 67 out of the 100 vehicles inspected presented some type of violation, which represents more than half of the taxis checked.

This high rate of violations motivated the authorities to implement new rules for the taxi service at Portugal's main airport, aiming to protect passengers from abusive practices and ensure greater transparency in service charges.

The minimum cost measure of 16 euros appears as a way to avoid excessive charges and establish a fairer standard for users who use taxis at Lisbon Airport.
