João de Jesus, from Praia de Mira, had a life filled with diverse professions. He was a fisherman, trader, sailor and emigrant, traveling the world before settling again in his hometown.
Today, already retired, he dedicates his free time to building miniatures of boats, chapels and other pieces that evoke the memories of his land. His creations capture the essence of life in Praia de Mira and preserve the memory of a past linked to the sea and local traditions.
His craftsmanship allows younger generations to learn about and appreciate the history and culture of the region, through detailed pieces that represent the identity of Mira's fishing community.
