Toni Esteban, a 51-year-old resident of Puerto de Sagunto (Valencia) and computer technician by profession, was in New York on September 11, 2001, the first day of his honeymoon. He had planned an excursion through Lower Manhattan when at 8:46 in the morning the nightmare began with the impact of the first plane against the North Tower of the Twin Towers.
Twenty-five years after the worst terrorist attack suffered by the United States, Esteban spoke with EL PERIÓDICO to narrate how he lived through that tragic day which, according to him, changed the world irreversibly.
The witness remembered that people were initially very downcast and surprised, since nobody expected that the United States would be attacked from within the country. His testimony offers a personal perspective on one of the events that marked contemporary world history.
