Fado is back on the streets of Alfama, the historic Lisbon neighborhood that is the birthplace of this Portuguese musical genre. The initiative will take place during this Friday and Saturday, bringing together an extensive cultural program dedicated to traditional fado.
A total of 60 artists will be distributed across 10 spaces scattered throughout the historic neighborhood of Lisbon. This decentralization of the programming allows participants and visitors to explore different locations while discovering different interpretations and styles of fado.
Among the highlights of the programming is the space "Em Casa D'Amália", which promises to be one of the high points of the event. This venue evokes the memory of Amália Rodrigues, the great reference of Portuguese fado, reinforcing the connection between fado tradition and the neighborhood that served as its backdrop.
The initiative aims to celebrate and keep the tradition of fado alive in its geographic and cultural roots, bringing artists and audiences to the streets and homes of Alfama, during a weekend dedicated to this musical expression that is intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
